*it had taken her hours to unpack all of her belongings - Padma had never realised quite how many books she had (or if she had, she chose to vehemently deny it). She was all-too aware of her possibly excessive amount of clothing, but chose to ignore that too - though there were a few items that she wondered if she'd ever actually wear again, someone was sure to want them. The thought left a bitter taste in her mouth when she realised that now they were here, one less person would be borrowing her clothes. Padma hated lying to Lavender. She'd got used to lying about work, but lying about her whole life situation was wrong. Completely wrong - and she hated it.*

*sighing, Padma placed her last photograph on the windowsill and tried not to look at the smiling, waving image of Mandy that greeted her warmly. She felt guilty enough as it was without anything else adding to it. Turning on her heel, she decided to go and see how Parvati was getting on with her own unpacking. Padma slipped out of her room and down the corridor to her sister's door, which she knocked on gently whilst opening it a crack.*

Hey sis. Is it okay if I join you?

*her morning had been taken up by a series of tests that she was frankly getting sick of. It wasn't like they didn't know what was wrong with her; and surely they could work out how she was doing just by asking her. Didn't they trust what she was saying? But then why would they - she was brain damaged, as they delighted in telling her over and over again. Like she didn't know.*

*sitting in the chair next to the window, Padma had her legs crossed and a book open in her lap when the knock on the door came*

Come in?

*tightening her scarf around her neck, and yanking her hat down, Padma wished not for the first time that it was summer again. Or that she didn't have to be outside in the cold. Or that they didn't have to avoid leaving magical traces on their route. Or that global warming could speed up and get rid of the damned ice. Unfortunatly for Padma, none of these things came into being, and she continued to shiver.*

*glancing to her left at Angie, Padma gave her a thin smile before returning to shuffling foot over foot and listening carefully to the surroundings - seeing as it was impossible to actually see any of them - these Muggles obviously hadn't discovered street lights yet. But then, she reasoned, they were in the middle of nowhere. Modern Muggle technology probably didn't permeate their minds at all.*

*muttered low under her breath to Angie* Why don't they send us somewhere warm? We could patrol in the south of France. I'm sure it needs doing.

The nights are calmer and she's like the Mandy I remember from school.

Of course, working together has proven to be difficult at times.

*leaning on the back of the chair in front of her with one hand, Padma raised the other and lightly flicked the top of the the unsuspecting Michael's ear*

Gotcha! *she gloated, before plonking herself down on the seat next to him* I'm stuffed, so you must be starving right about now.
